About Us

Our Journey

In 1988, Carl and Emily Russell purchased the property and started their business. In 2019, their daughter Laura and her husband Christopher returned to the farm after both serving careers in the U.S. Army. They are pleased to keep the farm in the family, grow some roots (literally), and continue serving the community that has supported their family for so many years. In addition to supporting her parents with the farm, Chris and Laura's military experience, specifically overseas in the Middle East and Africa, reinforced for them the importance of food security and resilient food and farming systems.

In 2024, to improve her education on sustainable farming, Laura received a diploma in Horticulture & Organic Fruit Management from Michigan State University. While continuing to provide locally sourced healthy food to the community, Laura is now passionate about educating and supporting others on these important issues.
